The Marlborough Group

The Marlborough Group of companies was established in 1997 by Geoffrey Davies and Andrew Oakes and comprises a series of special purpose vehicles set up to identify, acquire and manage top quality, profitable, commercial property developments and investments for sale or retention.

The primary objective of the Group is to seek out "off market" opportunities where additional value can be created through gaining or enhancing planning consents and in particular through partnership arrangements with land owners, occupiers and financiers.

Each project can be traded or kept in a property investment portfolio and it is the intention of the directors to build, over time, a substantial asset base as well as to create trading profits.

The Group will not often become involved with "plain vanilla" projects where other parties have created all the added value, but will seek to use the contacts and experience of its executives to be the catalyst in driving a scheme forward.

Special purpose companies are set up to carry out individual projects and normally non recourse finance is raised on each transaction.

Through a close association with Chartered Quantity Surveyors and Cost Consultants, A.J. Oakes & Partners, Marlborough provides a comprehensive single point of contact development and project management service under the banner of Quercus Development Management Ltd. Architectural, planning and landscape expertise is generally accessed through GDA, a part of the PRC Fewster Group.

MDL's strategy therefore is to identify strong financial partners to carry out the schemes that it identifies under joint venture arrangements.

The Marlborough philosophy embraces interests outside of the property sector and the company is very pleased to be able to provide sponsorship and support for the Royal Navy Cresta Run Team and Paul Valentine who is one of the top three drag motorbike racers in the UK.
